Michael has been respected icon within the Australian Judo arena for the past 38 years, three times Australian champion (1978-80 U/71kg), and Olympian (1980 Moscow Olympic team). He shares his passion for Judo through his dedication to coaching and his involvement in the administration of Judo in Australia.
Michael’s Judo Career began when he was eight years old. Coached and mentored by Sensei Bob Lego, Phil Richardson and later Sensei Akira Yamada Michael trained hard and his Judo skills flourished. By 1969 Michael became one of the strongest and most respected Judoka in Australia and the first Victorian to win the Junior Australian Championships. In 1977 he won the Men's 71Kg division at the Oceania Titles and then the National Championships for three consecutive years in 1978, 1979 and 1980. The highlight of Michael's judo career was representing Australia at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.
Since retiring from competition Judo, Michael has become actively involved in Judo coaching and the administration of Judo within Australia. He is an accredited Judo Coach having conducted classes at Mornington Judo Club for over 20 years, and has also been Victorian state junior and senior coach. And Michael is currently the President of Judo Victoria Inc.
When Michael is not coaching or administrating Judo, his favourite pass times include spending time with his family, surfing and on going building of his family (mud brick) home.

Kath has been the backbone of Mornington Judo Club for over 20 years. Kath is responsible for the administration of the club as well as caring for the club members. She attends every class at the club and is always available to assist club members and parents.
